Sometimes that and water-resistant are used interchangeably, but that’s not entirely correct. Waterproof means impervious to liquid, and it’s made from 100% waterproof materials, such as vinyl, with no backings or coatings needed. It’s impenetrable from bottom to top, meaning it can be submerged in liquid or spilled on, and it will be fine. Water-resistant means that, although water is repelled often, there’s always a chance it will absorb, soak through, stain and ripple.
